The ACU Student Veteran Impact Awards

The awards recognise student veterans, current serving and family of the ADF who have made a significant contribution to campus life or the broader community while pursuing higher education.

About the Student Veteran Impact Awards

The Student Veteran Impact Awards recognise the significant contributions our students have made in the areas of the environment and all facets of society. Their impact in these endeavours demonstrates ACU's mission, identity, and values of service towards the common good.

Award nominations 2025

ACU student veterans are encouraged to self-nominate or nominate a mate for any of the four award categories. To be eligible for the 2025 Student Veteran Impact Awards, the nominee must:

  • be a current student veteran studying at ACU, or the family member of a current/ex-serving ADF member
  • provide evidence of service if not registered to the Student Veteran Support Program (SVSP)
  • have completed at least 30 credit points of study
  • satisfy the academic requirements of the chosen study

Nominations for the 2025 Student Veteran Impact Awards open Tuesday, 1 July 2025 and will close 11.59pm Friday, 22 August 2025.

Previous award events

The 2024 Student Veteran Impact Award dinner was held at Rydges, South Brisbane on 8 October 2024. Along with celebrating the award recipients, the attendees raised ~$6,000 for the Veteran Transition Program Scholarships.

Guest speakers included:

Mr James Lister, Member for Southern Downs, Queensland Parliament Chair, Local Government, Small Business and Customer Service Committee, Former Royal Australian Air Force Squadron Leader, and Lieutenant Colonel Kylie Hasse DSM – Commanding Officer 4th Health Battalion. The 2024 Student Veteran Impact Award dinner, in Brisbane, recognised several student veterans for their contributions to ACU and the wider community.
