This Award was established in honour of Sir Peter Cosgrove, a former soldier, Governor-General, and Chancellor of ACU who has provided many years of exemplary service to the society and veteran community. He is a passionate supporter of current and past veterans and is renowned for his leadership, compassion, and determination. Sir Peter has inspired several generations of veterans in Australia. In appreciation of a spirit of service, this Award is the most prestigious recognition of exemplary and impactful contributions of graduating students to the ACU and wider community.

- Expected to complete or completed study within 12 months of award nomination.
Selection Criteria
- Demonstration of sustained and impactful leadership either directly or indirectly, in formal or informal roles, through co-curricular or extra-curricular activities, including but not limited to mentorship and peer support.
- Evidence of exemplary and impactful contributions to ACU. with a clear long-term impact, including but not limited to:
i) Supporting peers on campus
ii) Engaging in programs and supporting students on campus
iii) Advocacy
iv) Promotion of diversity and inclusivity
v) Displaying innovation through initiatives or projects - Demonstrated exemplary and impactful contribution to external community or Non-Government Organisation (NGO) during study at ACU. Nomination must clearly articulate nominee’s impact and be endorsed by relevant referee. Examples of contributions include:
i) Supporting veteran organisations
ii) Supporting the community (that is volunteering, State Emergency Service, community groups and similar)
iii) Advocacy - Commitment to ACU’s values and the pursuit of the common good.
