The application process includes six key stages:

  1. Prepare - Develop your research idea, gather documents, and organise referees or supervisors.
  2. Apply - Submit your application and supporting documents.
  3. Referee reports - Your nominated referees complete and submit their reports to support your application.
  4. Assessment - ACU reviews your application and supporting materials.
  5. Outcome - You'll receive an outcome.
  6. Enrolment - Accept your offer, complete enrolment steps, and prepare to commence your research degree.

Applications are currently open. You may begin your studies before the census date in either Research Term A or Research Term C.

You can submit your application at any time, however we strongly recommend applying at least 12 weeks before your preferred research term begins to allow sufficient time for processing.

If you are also applying for a scholarship, please refer to the specific application deadline listed on the scholarship webpage and ensure that your completed application (including referee reports) is received at least one week prior to this date.

Contact your referees

Choose two referees who are familiar with your academic achievements and ability to undertake research.

As part of your application, you are required to nominate two referees who can speak to your academic and research capabilities.

These referees will complete a confidential referee report and submit it directly to the university.
