We have established a Leadership Centre in Townsville for current and ex-serving members of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and their families.
Located at 150 Walker Street in the middle of the city, the centre provides an opportunity for ACU to support veterans and their families keen to undertake tertiary education.

SERCAT 7 members may be eligible for DASS funding to study a diploma.
The Townsville Leadership Centre is designed to provide veterans, serving ADF personnel and their families access to educational opportunities. At the facility, ACU will provide advice on higher education options and pathways, short courses, in-person support for students studying online, and an on-site educational support officer.
The venue includes a reception, workspaces, a kitchen, boardroom, and student spaces for use by staff, students and the community.
We acknowledge the challenges involved in moving from the ADF into civilian life. One of the steps we have taken to combat this is by creating a sector-leading set of entry pathways and support programs to help Defence personnel, veterans and their families enter tertiary education and succeed at university to gain qualifications for a new career.
If you’re ready to explore tertiary education, we’re here to support you to achieve your goals. Choose one of our online courses offered through ACU or ACU Online and benefit from the flexibility to study from any location while also having access to an in-person educational support officer and facilities at the leadership centre.
If you’re interested in relocating, you can study at any of our seven Australian campuses. Whether you choose to study in person or online, we have a range of services to help you transition to university and thrive during your studies.
A diploma program is a great introduction to the specific area you want to study. You can study a Diploma in Business or a Diploma in Criminology at the Townsville Leadership Centre. You’ll be supported throughout the course and, after successfully completing it, you’ll be able to transition into the second year of your chosen degree.
