Located in Fitzroy, in the Daniel Mannix Building, The Melbourne Psychology Clinic provides psychological services to the community while offering a valuable clinical placement environment for postgraduate psychology students. The clinic forms part of the Faculty of Health Sciences, School of Behavioural and Health Sciences at ACU and is staffed by Interns completing their Master of Psychology (Clinical) and Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental) under close supervision of experienced registered psychologists.
About the clinic
The Clinic provides a professional learning environment for our students enrolled in the Master of Psychology (Clinical) and Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental). As their first clinical placement, students work as Interns, supported and supervised by experienced staff from the School. During this placement, Interns develop essential clinical skills such as new referral intake screening, initial interviewing, clinical and psychometric assessment, and counselling intervention.
All prospective clients are subject to an intake screening process to assess referral suitability. This is to ensure that our Interns are able to offer a safe and ethical service within the limits of their developing psychological competencies.
The Clinic recognises the limits of its scope of practice. As a student training clinic, our services are subject to capacity limits and the learning objectives of our Interns. This means we may not be able to accept all referrals. We aim to provide suitable cases that support Interns in developing foundational clinical skills in a safe and structured environment.
Our values
In line with ACU's mission, the Clinic is committed to the values of:
- Equity and diversity

We strive to deliver health care that is prevention focused, culturally safe & inclusive, and equitable & free of racism. We embrace all people, including all faith and no faith, race and culture, LGBTQIA+ and the diversity within these communities.
We particularly acknowledge the importance of improving outcomes for First Nations peoples, and where possible, we offer a no-wait service for our First Nations clients.
