1. Get permission from your home university
Consult with your home university for permission to participate in an exchange or study abroad program, and to find out whether you will receive credit for your overseas study.
2. Study abroad or exchange?
First, decide if you are applying as a study abroad or exchange student.
3. Choose your ACU campus
ACU has six campuses around Australia. review your campus information you'd like to study at.
Please note that not all courses of study are available at every campus.
4. Choose your classes
Review the ACU Course enrolment guide and the Unversity handbook. You will need to enrol in 3-4 classes. Read our Enrolment information if you are not sure how to get started.
5. Submit your application
Exchange and Study abroad applications must be submitted using the ACU online application system. Please complete the following steps:
- Log in to the online application system.
New users create an account by clicking the 'Continue to Registration' button
Returning users: login in to the 'Returning users' section
- Choose your program
In the 'Level of Study' section, select 'Study Abroad' or 'Exchange'. Then, click 'Search now'
- Select your course duration
Select 1 or 2 semesters of study, and then click 'Apply now"
- Complete your application
Follow the instructions to complete your application
- Attach your documents
You'll need to have a copy of your documents ready to upload:
- A copy of your official academic transcript
- Your English language proficiency test (if applicable)
- A copy of the personal information page of your passport (if you do not have a passport yet, please add a note in this section stating that you are in the process of applying for a passport).
- A personal statement
6. Letter of Offer and acceptance
If your application is successful, ACU will send you an electronic Letter of Offer, normally within 1-2 weeks. This offer letter may come via your Exchange or Study Abroad representative at your home university.
The Letter of Offer will include advice from your Course Coordinator on your unit selection and the availability of your chosen classes, as well as fee and payment information.
7. Confirmation of Enrolment
Once you've paid your fees and returned your completed acceptance letter to ACU, we'll send you an electronic Confirmation of Enrolment (eCoE). This will allow you to apply for an Student Visa online.
8. Apply for Student Visa
You can apply for a Student Visa online or from the nearest Australian High Commission, Consulate, Embassy or Diplomatic post. Once your student visa has been approved, you can finalise travel arrangements.
The Study Abroad and Exchange Coordinator will send you a Pre-Departure Guide, and information about ACU accommodation, airport reception and orientation activities. At this stage, ACU will also pre-enrol you in 3-4 of the pre-approved units listed on your signed acceptance.
10. Arrival and orientation
Arrive in Australia and attend our orientation activities. You will be issued with your student ID and be able to finalise your enrolment. We look forward to welcoming you!
