What is ACU doing in response to COVID-19?

ACU is monitoring the situation closely and keeps up to date with the impacts of government decisions about policy, healthcare and border protection. ACU’s Critical Incident Management Policy has guided its approach to managing and recovering from the COVID situation. The Chief Operating Officer has oversight of the university’s response.

We are communicating regularly with our community – both locally and internationally – through emails, phone support, social media and this website as the situation unfolds.

Along with following advice from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and Australia’s Chief Medical Officer, State Premiers and Territory Chief Ministers, State and Territory Health departments/public health orders, we’re working closely with Universities Australia, and have developed a pandemic plan.

ACU’s recovery plan is well underway. As restrictions are eased across the country, ACU plans to have around 60% of classes available on campus with options for online and hybrid classes off-campus from Semester 1, 2021.

COVID safety plans

ACU has developed a safety plan for each of our campus in accordance with regulations from the Queensland, NSW, ACT and Victorian governments. Please check the Victorian COVID Safe Plan for Melbourne (PDF, 113KB) and Ballarat (PDF, 406KB), NSW COVID-19 Safety Plan for North Sydney (PDF, 142KB), Strathfield (PDF, 142KB), and Blacktown (PDF, 142KB), the WHS Queensland plan for Brisbane (PDF, 183KB), COVID Safe Plan for Canberra (PDF, 135KB) and Covid Safety Plan for Mother Teresa Building construction, ACU Melbourne (PDF, 4.4MB).

Reporting and self-assessment of COVID-19

The university has developed a set of protocols (PDF, 66KB) for reporting and dealing with confirmed COVID-19 cases amongst staff, students and visitors. To help staff, students and visitors identify whether they need to report, the university has developed a self-assessment guide. If you are in self-isolation or have tested positive, please make sure you fill in the ACU reporting form for staff or the ACU reporting form for students.
