Student Fees

Tuition fees will be based on the following factors:

  • course type
  • individual unit costs (eg Midwifery Foundations, Painting)
  • placement offer type (eg domestic fee-paying, Commonwealth supported place)

These fees are for tuition only. They don’t include additional expenses such as the Student Services and Amenities Fee, textbooks, materials and equipment, or living costs.

Most Australian students will be studying in a Commonwealth supported place (CSP), where the Australian Government makes a contribution to the cost of your child’s study, and your child then pays the ‘student contribution’. Depending on the course, a CSP undergraduate student at ACU in 2020 pays between $6,680 and $11,152 per year of study. These fees may change for 2021.

Your child may also be eligible for Youth Allowance through Centrelink, which is a scheme that assists university students financially while they study.

Students will also need to consider a range of expenses such as living costs, textbooks, computer equipment, and uniforms (if applicable to their course)

Eligible Australian students pay their student contribution through the HECS-HELP scheme. This means the government lends your child the money, and they start repaying the loan once their income gets above a certain amount. Alternatively, your child can pay their student contribution upfront by the due date. There is also a range of other loan schemes and government financial assistance available.

Scholarships

Our scholarships range in value from $1,000 to $20,000 and are available to eligible students studying in every discipline across all of our campuses.

Our scholarships are available in two categories:

  • Merit scholarships – awarded to students who have excelled in some area. This can include both sporting and academic excellence.
  • Equity scholarships – awarded to students who face significant financial barriers and require assistance in funding additional student life costs. This may include but is not limited to students from non-English speaking backgrounds, or students coming from refugee backgrounds.

Additionally, we also have scholarships for students that can assist with purchasing textbooks and uniforms, or provide support for placements.

Your child is welcome to apply for as many scholarships as they like. Our new scholarship portal allows prospective students to create a profile that indicates which scholarships are most relevant to them.

To create even more opportunities for our students, we've developed our COF scholarships. Valued at $4,000 each, they are designed to support your child to achieve their goals, no matter what circumstances they may be facing. And unlike many equity scholarships, our eligibility criteria are flexible, so we can provide support where it’s needed most.
