Demonstrating the (cost-)effectiveness of a personalized live-remote exercise intervention for cancer survivors using a super umbrella randomized clinical trial
Exercise has been established to be safe and have a positive effect on cancer-related side-effects, such as fatigue, reduced physical functioning, emotional distress, and chemotherapy-induced neuropathies. It is known that people who experience many (and long-term) side-effects benefit most from exercise. Larger effects of exercise are also observed for supervised exercise compared to unsupervised exercise. However, participation in a supervised exercise program is often hampered by travel distance and time. With this study, we aim to overcome these barriers by providing live-remote supervision, where participants receive guidance from a certified exercise specialist through a video-conferencing platform (Zoom), while performing exercises within the comfort of their own homes.
