Everyone at ACU – students, staff and visitors – has the right to feel safe. We also all share the responsibility to report anything that could put our community at risk. Following the steps below helps keep everyone safe.
We also offer support if you're a student or a staff member – you can talk to an experienced psychologist or counsellor.
In an emergency: In a life-threatening situation, call 000 for emergency services.
In a non-life-threatening situation, please call ACU campus security on 1300 729 452, or 8888 (internally).
First aid: If you require first aid, there are trained officers on every campus.
For after-hours first aid, please call ACU campus security on 8888 (internal) or 1300 729 452.
After hours safety: Campus security provides 24-hour security on all ACU campuses. If you are working outside of business hours and would like to request an escort around campus, please call 8888 (internally) or 1300 729 452.
Rome campus: If you need immediate help at our Rome Campus and you are unable to contact the campus staff, contact International SOS (available 24 hours) for immediate assistance on +44 208 762 800 (call collect) or through the International SOS website.
Gender-based violence refers to harmful behaviours directed at someone because of their gender. It can take many forms, including physical, sexual, emotional, financial, and psychological harm. Gender-based violence is not limited to physical acts - it can also include harassment, threats, coercion, intimidation, and behaviours that cause fear, or restrict a person's freedom or autonomy.

The ACU National Security Centre is available to provide support on all ACU campuses by calling 1300 729 452 or 8888 (from any internal ACU phone).
Anyone who experiences, witnesses, or hears about an incident of gender-based violence can report it. We have a number of support options for students, staff, and members of the community.
Understand your reporting options and report an incident
Everyone has a responsibility to ensure ACU campuses are safe, whether you are a staff member, a student or a visitor.
If you identify a hazard or a threat to the safety of anyone in an ACU space, please report the risk.
If you are a member of the public visiting ACU, please contact our National Security Centre on 1300 729 452 and alert them to the risk.
If you’re a staff member or student and you are aware of something you think should be reported, you can log a report through the Riskware online portal or through the app.
ACU student accommodation is an extension of our campuses. Everyone living in or visiting ACU accommodation has the right to feel safe, welcome and respected.
In the event of an emergency, please call Emergency Services on 000 (triple zero).
If you feel unsafe but are do not need an emergency response, please speak to the onsite Safety Support Officer or Learning Communities staff member (Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm) or your Residential Advisor. You can also call the ACU National Security Centre on 1300 729 452, or use the SafeZone app.
