Dr Michelle Gorzanelli is currently the NSW Professional Experience and Partnership Coordinator, course advisor of the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) degree, and a Lecturer in Educational Studies in the School of Education. Michelle holds a PhD in Education from the University of Sydney that curated a critical history of Physical Education, Health Education and School Sport through a qualitative discourse analysis methodology. She has extensive experience in lecturing and mentoring pre-service teachers in the teaching area of Health and Physical Activity and preparing pre-service teachers for practicum across Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary degrees. Michelle works closely with the leadership teams of various schools in NSW as part of her NSW Professional Experience Coordinator role. Michelle is also heavily involved with the Graduate Teacher Performance Assessment (GTPA), which is an authentic culminating assessment of pre-service teachers' competence in classroom practice assessed against the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers (AITSL), Graduate Teacher Standards and has supervised students enrolled in the Capstone research project unit. Her status of GTPA Recognised Assessor and HEA Fellow extends her expertise in Learning and Teaching in primary and secondary schools and Higher Education. Michelle has presented at various ACHPER International Conferences on Health and Physical Education and a HERDSA Conference on teaching evaluations in a standards-based environment. Michelle has been awarded the International ACHPER Conference Most Outstanding Paper by a Young Scholar and is committed to an embedded approach to the teaching of academic literacy skills in Higher Education to support pre-service teachers' application of planning, teaching and assessing in Health and Physical Education and all other subject areas.
