Michelle is a lecturer and manager of Field Education in the Discipline of Social Work at the Australian Catholic University, Strathfield campus. While her MSW research focused on families and divorce, her current focus is also on field education. Michelle teaches, coordinates, and contributes to the teaching and learning across a range of social work subjects including social work field work academic units and social work with individuals. Michelle has taught in both the MSW and the BSW degrees. Michelle uses her knowledge from extensive experience in the social work field to enrich the student's learning in the classroom. As an experienced educator, Michelle provides leadership and is a consultant for field education issues and policies. She manages the Strathfield social work field education portfolio by establishing and maintaining high quality relationships with external government departments and community agencies to ensure students are provided with quality placements. Michelle contributes to the teaching and issues of field education pedagogy within ACU. Michelle supports and collaborates with liaison visitors and supervisors with students on placement. Michelle facilitates seminars to supervisors/students and liaison visitors. Michelle has demonstrated experience in the development of student programs. Michelle is a member of the St Vincent's/ ACU Multidisciplinary Management Committee and the External Advisors Committee. Michelle contributes to the Honours program and is involved in projects. Michelle has tutored at UNSW and has worked in student education in health and has worked extensively in health as a senior social worker.
