Australian Catholic University (ACU) is offering a full-time PhD Scholarship to collaborate with Professor Herbert W. Marsh and his esteemed team at the Institute for Positive Psychology and Education (IPPE).

This scholarship provides an extraordinary opportunity for a highly motivated PhD student to work on cutting-edge research topics, receive exceptional training, and contribute to transformative advancements in educational psychology. The successful applicant will join a globally acclaimed research team led by Professor Herbert W. Marsh, an internationally recognised authority in educational psychology and motivation research. The scholarship will focus on motivation, self-belief, self-concept formation, well-being, and self-determination within educational psychology aligned with Professor Marsh's research track record.

  • Recipient of numerous accolades, including two AERA Career Achievement Awards, the Distinguished Contribution to Psychological Science Award (Australian Psychological Society), and China's inaugural Global Education Research Methods Innovation Award.
  • Founder and 27-year Director of the SELF Research Centre, with 500+ members worldwide, 9 co-edited volumes in International Advances in Self Research, and 10 co-convened International SELF Conferences.

Eligibility
Requirements

In addition to the eligibility criteria, the successful applicant should have:

  • Demonstrated research interest aligned to Professor Marsh's research in motivation, self-belief, well-being, self-concept, and self-determination in educational psychology.
  • Demonstrated strong quantitative research skills, including structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling, psychometrics, and related methodologies.
  • Experience in research utilising machine learning and artificial intelligence (desirable).

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must submit all documentation required for an application to the PhD program at ACU, as detailed in the How to Apply instructions, plus:

  • A CV detailing relevant academic and practical experience; and
  • A cover letter detailing demonstrated interest and/or experience in the program of research described.
