Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

International students need to meet the English Language Proficiency requirements as defined in the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

Have completed either:


  1. a Bachelor Degree from an accredited 3 year program in a Health Discipline or equivalent to enter the non-specialty pathway with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4.6 on the ACU 7 point scale; OR
  2. a Bachelor Degree from an accredited 4 year program in Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy or Speech Pathology or equivalent to enter the (Discipline) pathway, with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 4..6 on the ACU 7 point scale;
  3. Have a minimum of one year clinical experience in the appropriate discipline.
  4. Be employed in the field unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator
  5. Demonstrate suitability to undertake the course:
  6. For the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy disciplines, applicants must hold current registration with the discipline specific National Allied Health Registration Board or required Authority in Australia, or Registration Authority in country of current practice;
  7. For the Speech Pathology discipline, applicants must have obtained and maintain eligibility to practice and membership with Speech Pathology Australia, or Registration Authority in country of current practice.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation, a student must complete 40 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings consisting of:

a. For Specialisation Pathway

  1. 10 cp from Specified Units (Part A);
  2. 20 cp from Specialisation Units (for discipline/field) (Part B);
  3. 10 cp from Elective Units (Part D).

OR

b. For Non-specialisation Pathway

  1. 10 cp from Specified Units (Part A);
  2. 10 cp from Health Units (Part C); AND
  3. 20 cp from Elective Units (Part D).

Progression requirements

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.

Any postgraduate units that are approved by the course coordinator, including the options listed above. In addition, postgraduate units offered by ACU [e.g. units in the Master of Rehabilitation, Master of Clinical Nursing, Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology or units offered by other ACU faculties] can be selected as Elective units in consultation with the Course Coordinator.
