Unit rationale, description and aim
This intermediate unit introduces students to the main issues of occupational health, safety and environment (OHSE). Themes and inter-relationships are explored using safety, health or environment case studies, including DDT, Ebola, Asbestos, Bhopal, Piper Alpha, Exxon Valdez, melanoma and occupational cancer; OHSE as an integrated concept; and a model of OHSE management is proposed.
