Scam alert

Scam alert: fraudulent purchase orders

ACU is aware of a scam targeting university suppliers worldwide. Please review the information below to keep yourself safe.

What’s happening?

Suppliers may receive fraudulent purchase orders that appear to be from ACU. These purchase orders instruct delivery to a non-ACU address but otherwise appear genuine.

Payment is then never received for the items.

What to do about it?

If you receive a purchase order from ACU for a large order or if a purchase order seems suspicious:

  • On email orders, check that the email address is a genuine ACU address using the format of “acu.edu.au”
  • Confirm the legitimacy and delivery address of any large orders with your ACU contact or purchaseorders@acu.edu.au.

Notify www.scamwatch.gov.au if you or your company has been the target of this scam.

If you’ve been the victim of fraud, please contact your local police.
