NHMRC fellowship for brain trauma research

Doctor Karen Caeyenberghs has been awarded a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) fellowship, announced in the latest round of funding.
Dr Caeyenberghs, from the Faculty of Health, was awarded $431,000 for the Career Development Fellowship Funding starting in 2018, to undertake research entitled ‘Structural connectomes in traumatic brain injury: Can secondary disease progression be stopped and cognitive deficits be reversed?’
Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Wayne McKenna warmly congratulated Dr Caeyenberghs and the Faculty of Health Sciences on her sterling success.
“This award attests to and supports ACU’s intellectual environment whilst generating research that fosters health improvements and thus contribute to Australia’s prosperity now and in the future,” Professor McKenna said.
Dr Caeyenberghs’ research includes critical insights at the interface between brain structure, and function in relation to motor behaviour in children with traumatic brain injury.
