All Points to Teaching is an employment-based program where participants undertake an online undergraduate or postgraduate degree in secondary education, while working at schools within one of APTT’s seven geographic areas in Queensland and New South Wales.

APTT participants will:

• receive a fully funded scholarship to cover their HELP fees.
• be employed in a selected school and be paid while studying.
• have access to special wraparound supports including professional development courses, mentoring and membership in a community of practice.
• teach in high-demand subject areas such as mathematics, English, geography, history, science, and special and inclusive education.

All applicants who meet the APTT eligibility requirements and selection criteria are eligible for the APTT program, noting that participants must be located/willing to work in one of the seven APTT geographic locations:

• South East Queensland
• Rockhampton
• Townsville
• Forbes/Bathurst
• Parramatta
• Lake Macquarie
• South East NSW, Riverina and Tablelands.

APTT prioritises recruitment of diverse candidates, including, but not limited to:

• individuals who work as administrative and support staff or in other capacities at a school within one of the seven APTT geographic areas
• First Nations people
• recent school leavers or graduates
• career changers
• individuals from low SES backgrounds
• individuals from rural, regional or remote communities
• first in family to attend university.

Yes, to be eligible for the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) or Bachelor of Education (Secondary and Special Education) you must meet the ATAR and prerequisites for the degree. Please see requirements on ACU application pages.

Yes – as an APTT student, you can utilise the campus facilities at any of our ACU campuses. Your ACU student card will work on campus, and we encourage you to make the most of on campus experiences. While you can use the campus facilities, your study will be completed online.

No, this program has employment-based commitments as well as school placements and is therefore not compatible with completing an exchange / study abroad program.

Yes, students who have completed prior study may be eligible for recognition of prior learning, as per ACU policy. Please refer to the Academic Regulations – Section 5 Credit for Previous Study or Learning.

Step one:

NSW

For the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary and Special Education) you can apply via UAC for Semester 1 2026. Please note that UAC applications open April 2025 and the latest date you can apply via UAC is Thursday 29 January 2026.

For the Master of Teaching (Secondary) you can apply directly via the ACU website. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

QLD

For the Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary and Special Education) you can apply via QTAC for Semester 1 2026. Please note that QTAC applications open August and the latest date you can apply via QTAC is Thursday 6 February 2026.

For the Master of Teaching (Secondary) you can apply directly via our website. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Step two:

Once you have applied for one of the eligible courses, go to our register your interest page and start your scholarship application there.

You will not be eligible for the program, however ACU offers initial teacher entry (ITE) pathways. The Diploma of Education Studies can start you on your journey to becoming a teacher. The course is one year and will cover the units that you require as part of the entry requirements to your chosen course. Once you have completed the course you can apply for the APTT program.

The scholarship will cover your tuition fees (student HELP contribution) for undertaking each unit in your course one time. If you fail or withdraw from a unit/s after census date, repeat attempts of those unit/s, or its equivalent, will not be covered by the scholarship and you will be responsible for paying the tuition fees for the repeated attempts. In this event, students who are eligible for HECS-HELP or FEE-HELP can elect to defer the relevant tuition fees to the ATO or pay the tuition fees upfront to ACU by the relevant due date.

APTT participants will receive a scholarship to cover their HELP fees and extensive wraparound supports to support them to, through and beyond their studies, including:

• academic guidance
• dedicated mentor
• peer support pods
• workshops and short courses
• professional development
• transition from studying to teaching guidance
• membership of a cluster hub community of practice.

APTT cluster hubs are situated in specific geographic locations in Queensland and New South Wales as listed below. Each cluster hub is the centre of the APTT degree, a community of practice whose network includes selected placement schools, system and community leaders, Australian Catholic University academics, mentors, community support organisations and an Australian Catholic University campus (depending on the geographic location).

Queensland

• South east Queensland

This hub has a geographical location that spans from Brisbane to the Darling Downs, and from Hervey Bay to Coolangatta.

• Rockhampton (Central QLD)

This hub has a geographical location that spans from Rockhampton to Emerald, and from Mackay to Bundaberg.

• Townsville (North QLD)

This hub has a geographical location that spans from Townsville to Mt Isa, north to Ingham and south to Proserpine.

New South Wales

• Forbes/Bathurst (Western NSW)

This hub has a geographical location that spans from Bathurst to Wilcannia and from Gilgandra to Young.

• Parramatta

This hub has a geographical location that spans from Parramatta to Blackheath and from Richmond to Campbelltown.

• Lake Macquarie (Hunter)

This hub has a geographical location that spans from Morisset to Ryde, the central coast, and pockets of the northern beaches.

• South-East NSW, Riverina and Tablelands

This hub has a geographical location that spans from Bateman’s Bay to Wagga Wagga and from Young to Eden.

While all applicants who meet the APTT eligibility requirements and selection criteria are eligible for the APTT program, APTT participants must be located/willing to work in one of seven geographic areas as listed above. Preference may be given to those currently working in schools within our seven APTT cluster hubs. APTT students who choose to relocate to one of the seven geographic areas may do so at their own expense. Relocation expenses are not eligible for reimbursement. Please speak to our team if you have any questions about our cluster hubs.

The Master of Teaching (Secondary), Bachelor of Education (Secondary) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary with Special Education) are delivered online. APTT participants will also benefit from a blend of asynchronous and synchronous learning, mentoring and wraparound supports. APTT participants will undertake several professional placements in school settings throughout the duration of their chosen degree, concluding with an internship in the final year.

If an applicant currently works in a school that is located within one of APTT’s seven geographic areas, and it falls within the eligibility criteria for APTT schools, the applicant will be provided with a link to an online endorsement form that they must share with their principal/s to complete.

APTT students will get paid while employed in schools, at the relevant award/ enterprise agreement rate for the role applicable to the school of employment.

• APTT participants can undertake professional placements at the school they work in provided that the school is located within one of APTT’s seven geographic areas and is eligible to be a school partner and it meets accreditation requirements. Eligible schools include all government schools, with preference given to government schools that have an ICSEA (Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage) value of approximately 1000 or below or are considered hard to staff or in need. Eligible Catholic and independent schools include those with an ICSEA value of approximately 1000 or below. ICSEA values for every school can be accessed online at myschool.edu.au.
• The school must provide an endorsement letter at the time of application for APTT.

If an applicant currently works in a school that is located within one of APTT’s seven geographic areas, and it falls within the eligibility criteria for APTT schools, the applicant will be provided with a link to an online endorsement form that they must share with their principal/s to complete.

All NSW and Queensland Government schools within the nominated program geographical locations are eligible to take part in the program. Preference will be given to government schools that have an ICSEA (Index of Community Socio-Educational Advantage) value of approximately 1000 or below or are considered hard to staff or in need. Catholic and independent schools in the nominated geographical locations can take part in the program if the school’s ICSEA value is 1000 or below. ICSEA values for every school can be accessed online at myschool.edu.au.
