Presenter

Gabrielle (Gabby) HuntGabrielle (Gabby) Hunt, Research Associate, Institute of Child Protection Studies, ACU

Gabby examined organisational risk factors for child sexual abuse in faith-based settings, based on data from the Australian Child Maltreatment Study for her PhD (supervised by Professor Daryl Higgins, thesis submitted).

Gabby also conducted interviews with Australian Christian religious leaders  – mainly priests, ministers or pastors – to learn about their perspectives on the current strengths and limitations of safeguarding practices. The study provided crucial insights for religious organisations, legislators, policymakers, and researchers. Gabby is becoming a leading voice in her own right for what we know about religious leaders’ perceptions of safeguarding and child safety.

This webinar is presented as a collaboration between the Institute of Child Protection Studies and the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy Women’s Leadership for Mission program.
