Audition Criteria

Vocal ability will be measured by the quality of the applicant’s presentation of a one minute a cappella performance of a song of their choice that best demonstrates their vocal ability.

Assessment criteria is as follows:

• Tone quality/technique (vocal tone, breath support, vowels);
• Intonation (singing in tune);
• Accuracy (accuracy of pitch and rhythm);
• Diction (text clarity, accurate pronunciation);
• Musicality (dynamics, sensitivity to text, expression, phrasing, appropriate style)

Based on the above criteria, suitably skilled applicants will be offered positions in the ACU Choir for 2020.

Final selection will depend upon a number of factors including the balance of voice types in each section (soprano, alto, tenor, bass).
