As part of a funded Social Supports Individual program, St John are able to provide accompanied activities for elderly to help them continue to be engaged in their community. Our support workers are able to collect them in a St John branded vehicle from their home and take them to their place of choice.

People choose many options such as grocery or clothes shopping, medical or allied health appointments, going to a local café for tea and cake or even taking a stroll along the beach. For many of our elderly, this could be the only interaction that they have had all week and they absolutely love the company. For others, their health may have deteriorate to the point that they need the support with walking or communicating.

The role

Provide a helping hand to St John support workers while they take the elderly out and about in their local community, including local medical centres, grocery shopping or a walks along the beach. You will be expected to provide help during the trip and be a smiling face and uplifting conversation.

You will be allocated a support worker to work with for the day and individual trips last 1–4 hours. You can be allocated between 1–3 sessions per day. Any spare time in between may be filled with travel from one location to another.
