Being a young person in a caring role isn't easy. While Young Carers often learn compassion, intelligence and maturity, the extra strain of family life can quite often lead to feelings of social isolation. Little Dreamers is working to improve Young Carers' quality of life, with a vision to ensure that every single Young Carer around the world is supported by someone or something by 2030.

The Role

We're seeking, passionate and energetic volunteers to help facilitate one-hour weekly PeerSupport sessions over eight weeks in Term 4. You would be acting as a group mentor to provide support, guidance and assist in facilitation, guiding discussions on themes like Connection, Community, and Finding Purpose.

Skills

  • Facilitation Skills: Engage with young people in a supportive manner.
  • Relationship Building: Foster trust and maintain a positive outlook.
  • Relatability: Share insights into the impact of stigma.
  • Ethics: Act responsibly around vulnerable individuals.
  • Self-Awareness: Set boundaries and seek help when needed.
  • Wellbeing: Share personal self-care strategies.
  • Diversity: Effectively interact with diverse cultural backgrounds

Date: 8 consecutive Fridays (from 18th October to 6th December)
Time: 8:00am to 12:30pm (3 Peer Support groups)
Location: Pallara State School
