Teach Now Victoria (TNV): Fast-track your future in education

Take the next step towards a rewarding teaching career with ACU’s Teach Now Victoria program – a fully supported, employment-based pathway designed to accelerate your journey into education.

Delivered through the Master of Teaching (Secondary), this innovative program offers:

  • a professional internship as a paraprofessional teacher in your second year, alongside a major project focused on evidence-based teaching practice.
  • eligible students may be offered paid part-time employment as a learning support officer in the first year of study across selected secondary schools

Eligibility criteria

We want passionate individuals to teach English, Science and Mathematics in priority growth corridor and regional areas of western Melbourne, Ballarat, the Grampians, Wimmera and south-western Victoria.

For more information see our FAQs

Please note: The professional internship is available in Victoria only.

Scholarship

Successful applicants will receive a Department of Education funded scholarship of up to $16,000, paid work experience and an internship. Students who relocate to an eligible Victorian Government Secondary School within ACU’s identified priority areas, located at least 100km from their residential address may be eligible for a one-off relocation payment of up to $2,000. This incentive assists with relocation costs associated with the employment element of the TNV program.

Your study program

This initiative offers an alternative pathway for aspiring secondary and/or specialist educators with an existing undergraduate degree to gain teaching qualifications while undertaking paid work in a Victorian government secondary or specialist school.

The course structure course allows you to complete 90 credit points in your first year in an accelerated mode. You will benefit from two professional experience placements totalling 35 days in schools in your first year. Once you have successfully completed your first year, you will embark on a paid professional internship, completing the remainder of the 70 credit points of your degree, ensuring you are classroom confident.

Support while you study

Wraparound support program

We’re committed to helping you achieve your goals. TNV provide supportive, flexible and accessible learning and employment experiences within your own community, connecting your learning to the school workplace. Targeted wraparounds have been designed to reduce barriers, build student resilience and preparedness to teach, with intensive professional learning in key areas including teacher wellbeing, inclusive and positive learning environments, literacy support, artificial intelligence, gifted learners, and Indigenous culture.

Cluster hubs

TNV students will be part of a special cohort, embedded in a geographical hub connecting pre-service teachers with mentors, academic staff and schools, providing in-person and online activities.

The Ballarat hub serves as the anchor for inner regional students, and the Melbourne hub supports participants in the western Melbourne growth corridor. A virtual hub provides inclusion and access for students beyond Ballarat, ensuring continuity for those in the Wimmera, Grampians and south-west Victoria areas.

These hubs deliver regular mentoring, peer engagement and online wraparound supports, fostering strong connections and sustained relationships across metropolitan and regional locations.
