Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible to apply for admission to the Bachelor (Honours) degree, a student must have completed at least 120 cp of LAWS units from the Bachelor of Laws degree, with a grade point average (GPA) of at least 5.75.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the double degree, a student must complete 400 cp as follows:

  1. 160 cp selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Biomedical Science Degree, consisting of:
  2. 130 cp from Bachelor of Biomedical Science Specified Units (Part A)
  3. 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units (Part B);
  4. 10 cp from Biomedical Science Elective Units (Part C) or Law Elective Units (Part E).
  5. 240 cp selected in accordance with the requirements for the Bachelor of Laws, consisting of:
  6. 180 cp from Law Specified Units (Part D);
  7. 10 cp from Law Elective Units (Part E);
  8. 10 cp from LAWS450 Legal Research and Methodology (Part F);
  9. 30 cp from LAWS451 Honours Thesis (Part G);
  10. 10 cp from Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono Unit (Part H).

c. To qualify for the Honours degree, at least four of the units taken from the Law Specified Units and/or the Law Elective Units must be at level 4. To qualify for the degree, a student must also complete at least 80 hours of 0cp pro bono placement after completion of LAWS213 Community Legal Engagement: Pro Bono

Other requirements

Students are required to follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.

Progression requirements

Students will normally need to complete a unit or units at an introductory level (100-level) before undertaking advanced level units (200, 300, 400 level).
