The Stakeholder Engaged Scholarship Unit (SESU) is a product of our organisational culture – a culture deeply engaged in the wider community. At ACU, we listen to our partners and act in response to their needs.
The SESU is driven by our desire to engage with community for the common good and the celebration of human dignity, especially in ways that benefit individuals and groups experiencing disadvantage and marginalisation.
ACU is guided by the values of equity, diversity, accessibility, wellbeing and sustainability. We have a long-standing commitment to mutually-beneficial community engagement through our student placements and the opportunities we provide staff to give back to organisations supporting our community’s most vulnerable populations.
Through the facilitation of partner-initiated research projects, the SESU will provide scholarly expertise and research assistance to organisations working in areas that are central to ACU’s Mission and ethos as a Catholic university.
Organisations may choose to partner with the SESU on research projects that address broad, widespread problems or enhance their programs and services.
We invite you to partner with us on a research project that has meaning for your organisation. The 2020 round of EOIs has now closed. The next round of EOIs for the 2021 period will open in due course.
The activities of the SESU will be undertaken in line with the Stakeholder Engaged Scholarship Policy at ACU.
The SESU is guided by an Advisory Group made up of internal and external stakeholders. The Advisory Group plays a key role in selecting projects, identifying potential directions for scholarship and disseminating project outcomes.
Our newsletter brings SESU news, emerging trends in engaged research and project updates from our partners, researchers and Advisory Group straight to your inbox.
If you would like to know more or have questions about how the SESU could support your organisation, please contact our team.
