{{course.CourseDescription}}
Our multicultural societies are home to a vibrant mix of religious beliefs and experiences. Specialise in the study of religions as part of your arts degree and you’ll explore this diversity and its implications for contemporary society. You’ll study the three major world religions (Christianity, Judaism and Islam), and have the opportunity to study religions practised in contemporary South and East Asia. You’ll also look at Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander spiritualities and their connectedness to Country, as well as exploring the spiritual and religious traditions of other Indigenous peoples from around the world.
Choose the study of religions as a major or minor and you’ll go beyond merely understanding the practice of religion. You’ll develop a critical awareness of the historical and contemporary aspects of each belief system, as well as the need for interfaith relations and dialogue. You’ll also build a range of skills that are highly valued by employers, including critical thinking, academic writing and independent research. After you graduate, your studies can provide a foundation for further career development in fields such as journalism, media, public relations and administration.
