Dr. Tina Whyte-Ball is a Research Associate at the Australian Catholic University, where she collaborates with Dr. Joanne Bennett on road safety. Her research focuses cognitive psychology, with a particular interest in understanding how cognition/perception influence human behaviour in with the goal of developing and implementing interventions.
Dr. Tina completed her PhD in 2023 at Western Sydney, where her doctoral research investigated the impact of accents on young children's lexical development. This work explored how perception impact bilingual and monolingual children ability to recognise familiar words and learn new words.
Building on foundational work in developmental psychology with a vulnerable population, Dr. Tina's current research explores critical issues in road safety, including road safety and driver licence access among First Nation youth. This work aims to inform interventions that can enhance safety and performance among this vulnerable population.
With over 12 years of teaching experience, Dr. Tina has taught a range of undergraduate courses across psychology, social sciences, and linguistics. She is committed to student development and has supervised students interns and supported their growth as researchers.
