Dr Aydin Anic is a Research Associate at the Australian Catholic University, where he collaborates with Dr Joanne Bennett on road safety. His research lies at the intersection of cognitive psychology and applied science, with a particular interest in how visual perceptual and cognitive mechanisms influence human behaviour in real-world contexts.
Dr Anic completed his PhD in 2021 at Macquarie University, where his doctoral research investigated the role of the primary motor cortex in musical creativity. This work explored how motor execution contribute to creative music performance.
Expanding from his foundational work in music cognition, Dr Anic's current research explores critical issues in road safety, including visual exploration and attentional processes in drivers. His work aims to inform interventions that can enhance safety and performance in transport settings.
With over eight years of teaching experience, Dr Anic has taught a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses across psychology, cognitive science, and statistics. He is deeply committed to student development and has supervised more than 30 honours-equivalent psychology students, supporting their growth as researchers and practitioners.
