Definition

"Major": A major is 80 cp from prescribed units as outlined in the Requirements for the Completion of the Pass Degree.

Completion requirements

To qualify for the degree, a student must complete 240 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 60 cp from Specified Business Units (Part A)
  2. 20 cp from Core Curriculum Units (Part B);
  3. 80 cp from Major Units (single major) (Part C)
  4. 80 cp consisting of any combination of second major, minor(s) or electives (a maximum of 40cp of electives may be taken from outside the Faculty of Law and Business) (Part D, E and F).

Other requirements

A Major consists of 80 cp. Students must complete at least one major.

For professional accreditation in Accounting, students must complete both the major and minor in Accounting.

For professional accreditation in Human Resource Management, students must complete the major in Human Resource Management.

For professional accreditation in Marketing students must complete the major in Marketing.

A Minor consists of 40 cp. Students must select units from their Business School discipline or approved interdisciplinary area in other Faculties as listed in the Schedule of Unit Offerings - Minors. Students must consult with their Course Coordinator before selecting Minors in other Faculties or external to ACU. Normally a maximum of one minor external to the Faculty of Law and Business may be undertaken.

Progression requirements

Students are required to complete the Business Foundation units (BUSN104, BUSN112, BUSN113 and ITEC100 or equivalent) in their first semester, prior to progression to level 2 units. Students who complete a minimum of 2 Foundation units may progress to level 2 units with the permission of the Course Coordinator. Students should follow the pattern of unit enrolment set out in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless otherwise approved by the Course Coordinator. In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator.
