ACU winter Olympians finish on a high

Australian Catholic University’s winter Olympians said ‘ciao’ to Italy after ending their campaigns on a high at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympic Games.

ACU Elite Athlete and Performer Program student Reilly Flanagan and EAPP alumnus Sarah Blizzard both had moments to savour before the Games concluded with the closing ceremony at the ancient Verona Olympic Arena.

Sarah played her part in history as Australia fielded two teams in the Olympic two-woman bobsleigh for the first time.

In a close finish, the Graduate Certificate in High Performance Sport alumnus steered herself and teammate Desi Johnson into 21st place.

“We made improvements from the first run and that's what I wanted to do," Sarah told broadcaster Channel Nine of her Olympics debut.

“It's a learning experience ... it's very hard to be consistent here, but I did what I could and left it all out there."

Bachelor of Exercise and Sport Science student Reilly trains well away from the snow at Brisbane’s Geoff Henke Olympic Winter Training Centre.

He partnered individual silver medallist Danielle Scott and Abbey Wilcox to record fourth in the mixed team aerials final. Reilly finished 20th in his qualifying round of the individual men's aerials.

EAPP students may benefit from a range of supports including applying and enrolling, timetabling, and academic and financial support.
