Anchoring our Commitment in the Constitution: finding common ground by Kerry Pinkstone, Visiting Fellow, is the latest publication in the Indigenous Public Policy Program at the institute. In the paper, Pinkstone offers a proposal for constitutional recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The proposal aims at identifying common ground between the position in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and the Australian Government’s response to the recommendations of the Referendum Council.

Anchoring our Commitment in the Constitution is supported by two background papers.

For All of Us provides an overview of the background to Indigenous calls for a First Nations Voice, and Love of Country and a Fair Go discusses the policy approaches of the Howard, Rudd, Gillard, Abbott, Turnbull, and Morrison governments on constitutional recognition.
