Attend a trip to the Schoolhouse Museum on Tuesday, 25 June.
No payment is required at this stage but the cost will be $5 AUD plus travel expenses (viable transport options and pricing will depend on numbers).
Housed in original 1877-1910 schoolrooms, the NSW Schoolhouse Museum of Public Education collects and preserves documents and objects relating to the history of public education in NSW. It runs a popular excursion program for school groups providing interactive and immersive experiences that both recreate early school days and encourage students to use historical inquiry skills. Participants are invited to a guided tour of the museum with the curator. Time will be provided to wander through the recreated historical school rooms, examine artefacts and displays and dip an ink pen for some copperplate writing. If you have any questions for your research, especially relating to Australian education and/or curricula, bring them along. For more information on the Schoolhouse website.
