If you’re applying for more than one course

If you have included more than one psychology course in your course selections, you need to provide only one of each document or reference type listed below.

Applications will be considered in the order they are listed in your application. This means that if your first application is successful, your second application will not be considered. Alternatively, if your first application is not successful, we will consider your second application.

If you wish your applications to be considered in a different order to that listed in your application, you can remove and add the course and campus options in your application.

Are you applying for the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) or the Graduate Diploma in Psychology?

Applications for the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) will open in August and will close on 31 October 2023.

Applications for the Bachelor of Psychological Science (Honours) will automatically be considered for the Graduate Diploma in Psychology – there will be no separate application procedure for the Graduate Diploma in Psychology.

You must submit your application and all supporting documentation before the closing date.

To consider your application ACU needs to verify some of the details in your online application:

  • your academic transcript of your current and/or previous studies (or equivalent professional qualifications). If you studied in Australia, you won’t need to provide this documentation unless we ask you to.
  • If you studied overseas you will need to provide your academic transcript as well as an official letter from the Australian Psychology Society (APS) confirming that your overseas qualification/s are equivalent to a three or four year accredited psychology course in Australia.
  • If you studied under a previous name, you will need to provide evidence of your change of name.

Applications for these courses will be assessed in November and you will be advised of the outcome from December to early February. Enrolment for semester one 2024 should be completed by mid-February.

Are you applying for one or more of the Master of Psychology courses?

These include the

  • Master of Psychology (Clinical)
  • Master of Psychology (Educational and Developmental)
    • Applications for the above courses close on 31 October 2023
  • Master of Professional Psychology
    • Applications close 30 November 2023

You must submit your application and all supporting documentation before the closing date.

To consider your application ACU needs some additional information to support the details in your online application:

  • your academic transcript of your current and/or previous studies (or equivalent professional qualifications). If you studied in Australia, you won’t need to provide this documentation unless we ask you to.
  • If you studied overseas you will need to /provide your academic transcript as well as an official letter from the Australian Psychology Society (APS) confirming that your overseas qualification/s are equivalent to a three or four year accredited psychology course in Australia.
  • If you studied under a previous name, you will need to provide evidence of your change of name.
  • You must provide your current Curriculum Vitae detailing your relevant work experience.
  • You must write a personal statement of up to 250 words outlining the reasons you want to complete this course.
  • A report from two referees is also required to support your application:
    • one academic reference AND one professional reference are required. If we receive more than one academic or one professional reference, we can consider only the first received of each type.
    • Referee reports MUST be lodged via The Australian Psychology Post-Graduate Program Reference Request System.
    • The Reference Request System allows applicants for Australian post-graduate programs in Psychology to apply for a reference from academic and/or professional referees in three steps:
      1. You nominate your referees, and indicate the programs and institutions being applied to.
      2. Your referees complete their reference online.
      3. You then allow the completed reference to be shared with the programs you have applied to.

This system allows you to control and monitor the reference process. You will be notified when a referee has submitted a reference for you and you can then share this with the institution(s) that you have applied to. Note: The reference is confidential and you will not be able to view the contents.

It is your responsibility to follow up with your chosen referee to ensure their report is lodged prior to the closing date. Your application cannot be considered without these reports.

  • The final stage of the application process is to attend an interview. If you are shortlisted for an interview, you will contacted within the timeframes listed below.

Applications for the Master of Psychology courses will be assessed in November with interviews conducted from late November into December. You will be advised of the outcome of your application from December to January, and, if successful, you will finalise your enrolment for semester one 2023 by mid-February.

The Master of Professional Psychology will hold interviews slightly later - from mid to late December, with application outcomes available in January and enrolment by mid-February.
