About midwifery

Go beyond the birth of babies. Study midwifery to meet the psychological, emotional, physical, social and spiritual needs of women in maternity settings such as hospitals, birth centres, community agencies and at home. In doing so, you’ll become a critical thinker and reflective lifelong learner – one who displays clinical competence through independent and collaborative practice.

Continuity of Care Experience

Gain critical experience and support a pregnant woman and her family during your studies. Part of undergraduate midwifery studies at ACU, the Continuity of Care Experience will see you accompanying women through pregnancy, labour, birth and the postnatal period. You’ll forge an ongoing relationship that spans from initial contact in pregnancy, through to the weeks after birth, across both hospital and community settings.
