{{course.CourseDescription}}
Get a greater understanding of our region and the developing world, and the challenges facing some of our closest neighbours and marginalised communities everywhere. Taking a multi-disciplinary approach, international development studies analyses the forces that impact on political, economic, cultural and ecological conditions that can lead to poverty, poor health, fragile governance, inequality and environmental vulnerability – and identifies appropriate capacity-building, inclusive economic opportunities for these communities. Come into the degree with a commitment to the common good and respect for the dignity of the human person, and leave with critical skills in research, analysis and communication so you are able to effectively contribute to the management of global problems.
Learn from those on the frontlines. Start to see the world through the eyes of others. All our international development students undergo overseas immersion experience. You’ll spend time in a developing country, meeting and working with humanitarian and development program staff. This is an invaluable opportunity to experience the realities of on-the-ground development work in local communities.
