About this scholarship

Brother Ronald Fogarty was a Marist Brother who made a significant and important contribution to the study and practice of Catholic Education in Australia. His published works are relevant, not only to the Catholic and educational sphere of Australian history but also provide insight into the development of Australian society as a whole. This scholarship was established by the Marist Brothers in 2018, to commemorate and acknowledge Br Ronald Fogarty’s life and contribution to Catholic Education in Australia and to encourage pre-service teachers as they prepare for their teaching professions in catholic schools.

  • Recipients will be offered a full time Embedded Teacher Formation Experience in a Catholic Primary school in Melbourne

Application process

You must attach the following documentation with your application:

  • A written statement of approximately 300 words outlining:
    • Why have you chosen to undertake your degree
    • How the Embedded Teacher Formation Experience will help you in your career as a teacher
    • How will obtaining your degree allow you to give back to your community
    • Academic transcript (current course)

Selection criteria

Applications are assessed based on the strength of the following criteria:

  • Written statement
  • Academic merit

Selection process

The applications will be shortlisted by the Scholarships office and recipients selected by the State Head of Education VIC.

Ongoing requirements

Recipients are requested submit a letter of appreciation to the donor explaining how the scholarship assisted them and the learnings from the Embedded Teacher Formation Experience.

This report should be submitted to the Scholarship Office no later than 1 November.
