Dr Betty Frino is a Human Resources, Management and Work Health and Safety scholar whose research examines how changing forms of work, workplace regulation and organisational practices shape employee wellbeing, equity and employment outcomes. She brings over 25 years of distinguished experience in Australia’s workplace relations system, with expertise in wages policy, bargaining, pay equity and employment. Her research expertise spans employee engagement and voice, worker wellbeing, gender and work, labour regulation, wages, collective bargaining, with more recent work examining hybrid work, digital-age workplace regulation and career progression. Dr Frino is driven by research that addresses contemporary challenges in work and employment and how it creates fair and sustainable workplaces. With strong, established relationships across industry, her research has real world application that informs organisational leaders, practitioners and policymakers. Her extensive research in bargaining outcomes, pay and paternity leave, has informed meaningful government policy change and shaped discourse around bargaining outcomes and pay equity for low skilled and vulnerable workers. She has appeared as an expert witness for state wage case decisions and produced commissioned reports for industry and government on wage trends and bargaining outcomes.

Betty has held previous appointments at the Universities of Sydney, Macquarie and Wollongong, teaching across programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Betty has published widely in peer-reviewed and practitioner based journals, and presented her work at both academic and practitioner conferences on the international and domestic scale.  She has been invited as guest lecturer at several international universities in Europe (Italy), Malaysia and UAE.
