Dr Angelique Ralph is a clinical psychologist and Senior Lecturer in psychology at Australian Catholic University, with research interests in eating disorders, disordered eating, weight-related health, chronic disease and clinical health psychology. Her work focuses on improving care for people experiencing eating disorders and related health challenges, with particular interests in higher-weight populations, research translation and the use of qualitative research methodologies to understand the lived experiences of people, families, and health professionals.
Her current work examines the lived experiences of people navigating eating disorders, weight management, and chronic health conditions, alongside workforce and health service research focused on improving identification, treatment, and models of care. This includes supporting health professionals to recognise and respond to eating disorders, as well as national work examining service delivery and workforce capacity across Australian health systems.
Before joining ACU in 2024, Angelique was Research Lead at the National Eating Disorders Collaboration, where she led national research, service development and evaluation initiatives. She contributed to major sector initiatives, including the Australian National Eating Disorders Strategy (2023-2033), and co-led the development of Australia’s Clinical Practice Guideline for the Management of Eating Disorders for People with Higher Weight. She has also held research positions at the University of Sydney and UNSW alongside clinical roles in public and private health settings.
Angelique completed her psychology training, including a Doctor of Clinical Psychology and PhD, at the University of Sydney. Her doctoral research focused on psychosocial outcomes in living kidney donation.
At ACU, she teaches and provides clinical supervision in postgraduate clinical psychology programs and supervises research students. She also serves as an Associate Editor for Clinical Psychologist and a Senior Editor for the Journal of Eating Disorders.
