Additional information

The Science teaching area equips preservice teachers with the disciplinary knowledge and pedagogical skills required to teach science effectively across school contexts. It develops understanding of key scientific concepts and practices, and emphasises inquiry-based learning, critical thinking, and evidence-informed approaches to teaching and assessment. Students engage with contemporary science curricula and learn to design coherent, engaging and inclusive learning experiences that support diverse learners. Through practical activities, collaborative learning, and reflective practice, preservice teachers build confidence in planning, teaching and assessing science in ways that promote curiosity, scientific literacy and responsible engagement with real-world issues, including sustainability and technological change.
