Admission requirements

Completion requirements

To qualify for the award in Victoria and Queensland, a student must complete 320 cp (Part A) consisting of:

1. 170 cp following the requirements of the Bachelor of Education degree, consisting of:

a. 50 cp from Education Studies units (Part A1)

b. 60 cp from Effective Teaching units (Part A2)

c. 20 cp from Secondary Curriculum units (Part A3)

d. 40 cp from Secondary Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment (CPA) units corresponding to the teaching areas (Part A4)

e. 0 cp from ACER Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education units (Part A5)

2.150 cp from the Bachelor of Exercise Science degree, consisting of:

a. 120 cp of Health and Physical Education units (Part A6)

b. 20 cp from Core Curriculum units (Part A7)

c. 10 cp from Community Engagement unit (Part A8)

OR

To qualify for the award in New South Wales, a student must complete 320 cp (Part B) consisting of:

1. 160 cp following the requirements of the Bachelor of Education degree, consisting of:

a. 50 cp from Education Studies units (Part B1)

b. 60 cp from Effective Teaching units (Part B2)

c. 20 cp from Secondary Curriculum units (Part B3)

d. 30 cp from Secondary Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment (CPA) units corresponding to the teaching area (Part B4)

e. 0 cp from ACER Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education units (Part B5)

2.160 cp from the Bachelor of Exercise Science degree, consisting of:

a. 130 cp of Physical Education units (Part B6)

b. 20 cp from Core Curriculum units (Part B7)

c. 10 cp from Community Engagement unit (Part B8)

Other requirements

Professional Experience Requirements:

Students must successfully complete all professional experience components, including those embedded within individual units.

Requirements for Working with Children:

All enrolled students must obtain the necessary approvals before entering a classroom. These include:

• Blue Card (Queensland)
• Working with Children Check (New South Wales and Victoria)
• International Students: Must provide police check documentation from their home country.
• National Police Check: May be required for placements in settings other than schools.
• Students with International Residency: Any student who has lived in another country for 12 months or more must supply a police check covering that period.

Exit points

A student who has completed the course requirements for the courses listed below may graduate with the corresponding qualification. However, none of these qualifications qualify the holder to teach in Australia.

1. Undergraduate Certificate in Educational Studies
2. Diploma in Educational Studies (Tertiary Preparation)

• Diploma in Exercise Science

A student who does not satisfy the LANTITE requirements may exit the course through an appropriate pathway, provided they meet the criteria for that award.

Progression requirements

Before enrolling in EDET100 Effective Teaching 1: Becoming a Teacher, students must have attempted the ACER Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education.

To be eligible to enrol in the third placement unit, EDET301 Effective Teaching 3: Engaging Learners and Managing Learning Environments, students must first complete both LNTE100 LANTITE – Literacy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students and LNTE101 LANTITE – Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students.

Students are required to follow the prescribed unit enrolment pattern outlined in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless an alternative arrangement has been approved by the Course Adviser.
