EFTSL value of units : All 10cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a credit point (cp) value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.
Admission requirements
An applicant must comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy, which includes meeting a minimum ATAR requirement and meeting the English Language Proficiency requirements.
To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed the following prerequisites at year 12 level, or equivalent:

OR
Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander applicants may be selected following an interview with the course adviser and staff of the campus Indigenous Higher Education Unit. They should have:
- a minimum of three years’ work experience; or
- completion of year 12 or equivalent; or
- demonstrated relevant tertiary study skills or successful completion of a Tertiary Communication Skills program.

Completion requirements
To qualify for the award, a student must complete 360 cp consisting of:
- 200 cp following the requirements of the Bachelor of Education degree, consisting of:
a. 60 cp from Education Studies units (Part A)
b. 60 cp from Effective Teaching units (Part B)
c. 10 cp from Secondary Curriculum units (Part C)
d. 50 cp from Secondary Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment (CPA) units (Part D)
e. 20 cp from Core Curriculum units (Part E)
f. 0 cp from ACER Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education units (Part F).
2.160 cp following the requirements for the Bachelor of Arts Design and Technologies Major and Digital Technologies (Computing) Minor, consisting of:
a.80 cp from Design and Technologies Specified units (Part G)
b.40 cp from Design and Technologies Extension Elective units (Part H)
c.40 cp from Digital Technologies (Computing) Minor units (Part I)
Other requirements
Professional Experience Requirements:
Students must successfully complete all professional experience components, including those embedded within individual units.
Requirements for Working with Children:
All enrolled students must obtain the necessary approvals before entering a classroom. These include:
- Working with Children Check (New South Wales)
- International Students: Must provide police check documentation from their home country.
- National Police Check: May be required for placements in settings other than schools.
- Students with International Residency: Any student who has lived in another country for 12 months or more must supply a police check covering that period.
Exit points
A student who has completed the course requirements for the courses listed below may graduate with the corresponding qualification. However, none of these qualifications qualify the holder to teach in Australia.

A student who does not satisfy the LANTITE requirements may exit the course through an appropriate pathway, provided they meet the criteria for that award.
Progression requirements
Before enrolling in EDET100 Effective Teaching 1: Becoming a Teacher, students must have attempted the ACER Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education.
To be eligible to enrol in the third placement unit, EDET301 Effective Teaching 3: Engaging Learners and Managing Learning Environments, students must first complete both LNTE100 LANTITE – Literacy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students and LNTE101 LANTITE – Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students.
Students are required to follow the prescribed unit enrolment pattern outlined in the relevant Course Enrolment Guide, unless an alternative arrangement has been approved by the Course Adviser.
