Unit rationale, description and aim

Social work is a distinct discipline grounded in a commitment to social justice, human rights, and professional ethics. This unit is the first of two professional practice placement units that are only offered to students seeking Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) for their first Master of Social Work placement unit (SWTP625) and can only be used toward RPL for SWTP625.

Students need to provide evidence of the equivalent of three fulltime years’ work in a social work role, with social work tasks, in a social work-related setting, as set out by the Australian Social Work Education and Assessment Standards (ASWEAS, 2024).

SWTP636 is only available as a unit that attracts informal credit.
