EFTSL value of units : All 10 cp units in this course have an EFTSL value of 0.125. Units with a cp value of a multiple of 10 have corresponding EFTSL values.

Admission requirements

An applicant must also comply with the Admission to Coursework Programs Policy.

To be eligible for admission to the course, an applicant must have completed an undergraduate degree in any discipline.

A student who has completed the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies will be granted advanced standing.

Completion requirements

PATHWAY 1 (80 credit points)

Students may choose a named specialisation.

a. To qualify for the Graduate Diploma with a named specialisation a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 30 cp from Specified Units (Part A);
  2. 40 cp from one specialisation group to be drawn from 500-level units (listed) or, from 600-level units from the same specialisation group from the Master of Theological Studies (Part B);
  3. 10 cp from Electives* (Part C) OR,

b. To qualify for the Graduate Diploma a student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 30 cp from Specified Units (Part A);
  2. 50 cp from Electives* (Part C).

PATHWAY 2 (40 credit points)

To be eligible for Pathway 2 , a student must have completed one of the following prerequisites:

a. Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies, or equivalent;

b. Graduate Certificate in Catholic Studies, or equivalent;

c. Graduate Certificate in Religious Education, or equivalent.

Students may choose a named specialisation.

a. To qualify for the Graduate Diploma with a named specialisation a student must complete 40 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 40 cp from one specialisation group (Part B) OR,

b. To qualify for the Graduate Diploma a student must complete 40 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of:

  1. 40 cp from Electives* (Part C)


  • Students may take Electives drawn from the Schedule of Unit Offerings (listed) or from the Schedule of Unit Offerings within the Master of Theological Studies.

Exit points

A student who has completed the requirements for the Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies (40 cp) may exit with that award.

Progression requirements

In all aspects of progress through the course, students will be advised by the Course Coordinator and bound by decisions of the Head of School.
