Unit rationale, description and aim

This unit is designed to provide preservice teachers with strategies for planning, implementing and monitoring learning experiences for students studying in their first and second curriculum areas within secondary schools. The unit will build on both national and state documents relating to specific teaching areas with particular reference to the local state documents. There is a focus on secondary school curriculum with special attention given to theories of learning, planning and assessing learning activities, planning, learning technologies, the use of concrete materials, problem solving, investigative approaches, catering for individual differences and strategies for fostering critical thinking in students.
