Unit rationale, description and aim

Educational research seeks to describe, explore, explain and/or critique phenomena related to teaching and learning. The process of conceptualising, framing and focussing a research study begins by reviewing the research work of other scholars. An extensive knowledge of your topic acquired through a literature review enables you to refine your research aims and focus on worthwhile investigations or innovations. In this unit you will apply your knowledge to the critical analysis of research publications and evaluate the significance of research findings for educational practice relevant to your topic. In addition, you should be able to conceptualise a researchable study and propose appropriate research aims.
