The Economics Teaching Area prepares future teachers to help students understand how individuals, businesses and governments make decisions about the use of resources. It explores core economic concepts such as markets, economic systems, growth, trade, and the role of policy in shaping economic outcomes. Preservice teachers learn to design engaging, inquiry‑driven learning experiences that build students’ analytical skills and economic literacy. This teaching area equips graduates to guide students in interpreting real‑world economic issues, evaluating evidence and developing informed perspectives on the economic forces that influence society
