The Accounting Teaching Area focuses on developing students’ understanding of how financial information is created, interpreted, and used in real organisations. We teach the core principles of accounting, from recording transactions to analysing financial statements, and help students build the practical skills needed for professional practice. Our subjects emphasise accuracy, ethical decision‑making, and real‑world application, preparing learners for careers in business, finance, and beyond.

Completion requirements

Students in the following courses must complete:

  • Master of Teaching (Secondary)
  • Master of Teaching (Secondary) (Internship)
  • Master of Teaching (Secondary) (Leading Learning)
  • Master of Teaching (Secondary) /Graduate Certificate in Religious Education


  • 20 cp from Accounting Postgraduate Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment (CPA) units (Part A)

Part A.1 AND Part A.2

    Part A.1 : Junior Secondary CPA unit

    Complete exactly 10 credit points from the following:

  • EDCB550Pedagogical Studies in Commerce and Business (7 to 10)10 CP

    Required unit

  • EDSS550Pedagogical Studies in Humanities and Social Science (7 to 10)10 CP

    For students with two Teaching Areas in Commerce and Business Studies who have already completed EDCB550.

    • Part A.2 : Senior Secondary CPA unit

    Complete exactly 10 credit points from the following:

  • EDCU650Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment for Senior Studies 110 CP

    Study as part of the First Teaching Area

  • EDCU651Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment for Senior Studies 210 CP

    Study as part of the Second Teaching Area

  • EDCU652Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment for Senior Studies 310 CP

    Study as part of the Second Teaching Area
