In the Counselling minor, you will study the basic concepts of counselling such as how to facilitate self-knowledge, emotional acceptance, and growth. You will also learn the foundations of a number of theoretical approaches to counselling and case management and become familiar with the ethical responsibilities of a counsellor and a case manager.

A student must complete 40 cp of the Schedule of Unit Offerings (Part A).

Complete exactly 40 credit points from the following:

  • COUN230Applied Counselling Skills and Case Management10 CP
  • COUN231Ethical and Professional Practice in Counselling10 CP
  • HLSC120Indigenous Health and Culture10 CP

    Psychology students

  • PSYC108Psychological Practice: Theory and Techniques10 CP

    Non-Psychology students

Psychology students must choose HLSC120 instead of PSYC108
