Overview
The history major sequence brings the past to life by introducing you to a diverse range of societies and cultures that have shaped the modern world. History at ACU has an exciting and innovative global focus. You will have the opportunity to study European, American, Australian, Indigenous, Asian and Ancient history, and to engage with key themes such as war and peace, race and class, gender and sexuality, violence and terrorism, and film and popular culture. In exploring the people, ideas and events that have defined the past and given meaning to the present, you will develop critical skills that will equip you for a rich and rewarding professional career.
Career opportunities
With high-developed analytical, written and communication skills, history graduates have gone on to exciting employment in a number of areas, including politics and policy-making, foreign affairs and diplomacy, journalism and public relations, heritage sites and museums, and in schools and universities.

Completion requirements
A student must complete 80 cp from the Schedule of Unit offerings, consisting of:
a. at least 10 cp from 100-level units (Part A)
b. at least 40 cp from 200-level units (Part B)
d. at least 20 cp from 300-level units (Part C)
*Students in the Bachelor of Education (Secondary), Bachelor of Education (Primary and Secondary) and Bachelor of Education (Secondary and Special Education) must complete 60 cp from the Schedule of Unit Offerings, consisting of no more than 2 units at 100-level and at least 2 units at 300-level.
