Professional experience
You will be required to complete at least 720 hours of professional experience.
Work placement
Students will undertake clinical placements as part of a variety of clinical units throughout the course in maternity hospitals and community facilities. As part of your course, you will be placed in a range of organisations to integrate the theory you learn with practical workplace experiences (placements).
Professional recognition
Eligible graduates can apply for registration as a registered nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra). Please refer to the Registration Standards for Nursing and Midwifery on the Ahpra website .
Accreditation
The Bachelor of Nursing (Enrolled Nurses) is accredited by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) and approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.

Associate Professor Adam Burston
Head of Discipline Nursing
Associate Professor Adam Burston is the Head of Discipline (Nursing) at the School of Nursing, Midwifery and Paramedicine Australian Catholic University, and Visiting Research Fellow at the Nursing Research and Practice Development Centre, The Prince Charles Hospital. Adam’s research areas include nursing workforce, acute care, aged care nursing, pressure injury, bioethics and higher education. He is an active supervisor for HDR students and mentor for nursing academics
Dr Lyn Taylor
Senior Lecturer and National Course Coordinator, Bachelor of Nursing
Dr Lyn Taylor is a registered nurse with a background in perioperative and paranesthesia care. While in the acute care sector, Lyn worked closely with undergraduate and postgraduate students as a clinical facilitator. For the past 18 years, she has worked in tertiary education as simulation coordinator and teaching academic. As the National Course Coordinator for the Bachelor of Nursing, Lyn is involved with the design, development and delivery of the nursing curriculum at ACU. She has recently completed a Doctor of Education where she explored the perceptions of reflection in undergraduate nursing students.
